Make a Stewardship Pledge for 2019
Make A Difference: Stewardship 2019
This is an exciting time in the life of Good Shepherd. Your generosity and commitment have produced a growing and vibrant parish on two campuses. Good Shepherd is spreading the love of God in our unique, open, and thoughtful way, with an emphasis on caring for those in our community and reaching out to those beyond it. Our shared witness to God’s love is forming us for forever.
In the next few days, you will receive an email invitation that asks you to select the date, time, and location of a small group gathering. You may also select a gathering on our website: www.gsaustin.org. At these gatherings you will be able to meet other parishioners and hear more about the parish’s plans for 2019. We will also preview the results of the parish-wide survey and update you on the progress of the parish’s strategic planning process. We hope that you will attend.
Your generosity over the past several years has enabled us to rebuild our Windsor Campus. Our new buildings have allowed us to expand our programming for parishioners and to offer our facilities to the broader Church, including a visit by Presiding Bishop Curry. In 2019 we will continue to invest in high-quality music, liturgy, and programming that feeds our souls and our minds, and we will continue to prioritize pastoral care, reaching out to those in our community in times of need and difficulty.
Next year the parish will take full financial responsibility for Good Shepherd on the Hill, our second campus. The diocese supported the start of The Hill, and now it is up to us to continue to share the Good News of Christ with our neighbors in southeast Austin. We are so grateful for those of you who have joined the parish through The Hill. Already The Hill is a place where parishioners and the parish are forming enduring relationships and offering consequential programming. Your support in 2019 will allow us to continue to utilize The Hill for its highest and best purposes.
When we dreamed of a second campus in southeast Austin, we identified a shortage of high quality early-childhood education in the area, and we imagined a school that would offer a full-day program to help families. Hillside Early Childhood Center enrolled its first students earlier this year, and we’re thrilled to be able to witness the transforming power of Christ by offering high quality early-childhood education to our neighbors at The Hill. Hillside reflects our broader and significant commitment to outreach.
We invite you to make a financial commitment to the parish for 2019. If you have not pledged before, please know that we rely nearly entirely on annual pledges to fund everything we do. Your early financial commitment now will help us greatly to determine the scope and scale of our ministry in 2019. You will receive information by email about special Sunday programming beginning Sunday, October 14. We hope to see you there.
Whether you worship with us at The Hill or on Windsor Road, thank you for being part of our parish community. Together we can continue to expand the vision and ministry that we share and the ways that we are formed for forever.
