On April 20th, The Combined choirs of Good Shepherd and Texas State University debuted an anthem commissioned especially for Good Shepherd Church and choir, in celebration of Building the Beloved Community, and written by nationally recognized composer John Conahan. While most versions of Psalm 23 tend to be meditative and inward looking, Conahan’s setting is on grand, heroic scale, focusing less on our need of God’s protection and guidance, and more on God’s infinite ability to protect. This past Sunday, May 7th, The Lord is my Shepherd was first offered in worship at our 10:30 am service.
