DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Hill from 7:00p-9:00p on October 19 for a performance of traditional Pakistani folk music by Mujeeb Ruzik.\n\nMujeeb Ruzik performs traditional Hunza music on the rubab and the xingini\, traditional Pakistani instruments. This is a rare opportunity for the Austin community to hear this music. Mujeeb will be accompanied by sitar and percussion. \n\nIn the midst of an uncertain and divided world\, let’s reach beyond ourselves and take action to keep Austin welcoming.\nThis special performance is brought to us by Austin Against Hate Initiative. Youth then lead participating children’s return to the sanctuary in time for Communion. \nNursery care available.

DESCRIPTION:The disciples asked Jesus\, “Lord\, teach us to pray”\, (Luke 11:1-4). We\, too\, look for ways to talk with God\, and different seasons of life might call for different ways of praying. In our Advent Quiet Day\, we will explore ways of praying – from walking meditations to breath prayers and writing – to help us find our own ways of connecting with the Divine. Join us at Good Shepherd on Saturday\, December 9 at 9:30a-1:00p. Coffee and check-in beginning at 9:00a in the Education Center\, Reflection Room. Lunch will be provided.\n\nRegister HERE.\nAbout the Advent Quiet Day facilitator: \nHaving enjoyed a rich and varied career\, Elizabeth Ann uses her own faith journey\, education\, experiences\, curiosity\, and gifts to design and facilitate discussions and retreats that help people pay attention to what matters. In this Advent Quiet Day\, she will weave her love of language and literature\, questions and discussions\, to spark participants’ spiritual imaginations. She is a skilled facilitator and careful listener for whom part of her spiritual journey is to engage with others on theirs. \nElizabeth Ann earned a M.Ed. from University of Houston and a M.A.R. from Seminary of the Southwest. She is currently a Eucharistic Minister and has been a Eucharistic Visitor\, Vestry member\, School Board member\, choir member\, coordinator of adult religious education\, and facilitator of Women on the Journey in her almost 40 years as member of Good Shepherd. \n
