Fall Formation Kickoff
FALL FORMATION KICKOFF
“Not all those who wander are lost: Remember, Reflect, Reimagine”
Sunday, August 23 | 10:30am Online Worship
+ Post-Worship Coffee Hour Conversations
In this time of pandemic, we are wandering through uncharted territory together. Beginning this Sunday, and for the next several weeks, we will hear the stories of Exodus in our worship and will remember that this is not the first time the people of God have wandered together. Through sermons and coffee hour conversations, we’ll reflect on God’s steadfast love for the wandering Israelites. We’ll see more clearly how that love is guiding us now, and how we are called to be the people of God in this moment. Together, we’ll bring new insights and meaning to this experience of wandering. To borrow from the Christian writer J.R.R. Tolkien, we’ll discover that “Not all those who wander are lost.”
During Sunday’s worship, the Rev. Stanford Adams will introduce this theme from the pulpit. Then we’ll welcome a special Coffee Hour guest, the Rev. Dr. Judy Fentress-Williams, Professor of Old Testament at Virginia Theological Seminary, to continue the conversation.
