Come join Elise Jones, a certified yoga teacher & Interim Child & Family Minister, as she leads a meditative, restorative yoga class focused on healing.

Contemplative Yoga is a gentle, calming, therapeutic yoga that uses props to support the body to deepen the benefits of the poses. It is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation. Integrating yoga with contemplative spiritual practices provides a way to involve our entire bodies in a form of embodied prayer. It allows us to rest in God’s presence and creates a space for stillness, healing, and peace in our busy lives.

Contemplative Yoga incorporates gentle, flowing yoga exercises which typically require participants to be able to get up and down off of his or her mat. However, many of the postures can also be modified for those who can sit in a chair for the entirety of the practice. All participants are asked to check with their physician and/or medical provider before attending a Contemplative Yoga class.

Participants are also asked to wear comfy clothes and to bring a yoga mat or thick, sturdy towel with them. It is also helpful to bring an extra layer of clothing, like a sweatshirt, and a water bottle.
