SUMMARY:Sunday Bible Study: The Psalms – A Mirror of the Soul
DESCRIPTION:From the very beginning\, Israel was a covenant community whose primary bond was worship of God. The Book of Psalms has such a key role (as it does for us today)\, revealing the faith of the community. As Christians\, we read the psalms with New Testaments eyes\, and discover similar situations as the Hebrew people before us–sorrow\, loneliness\, joy\, hope and much more. John Calvin said the psalms provide “a mirror of the soul.” After an initial teaching of the “anatomy” of a psalm\, we will look at four genres or types of psalms appropriate for Lent–lament\, help\, remembrance and instruction. \nWith questions contact the Rev. Mike Wyckoff.

SUMMARY:Sunday Bible Study at the Hill: God's Chosen People - An Old Testament Study
DESCRIPTION:The story of the people of Israel and their covenant with God is central to the Christian faith. Throughout the New Testament\, Jesus\, Paul\, and others make reference to Israel’s story to explain God’s work in the new covenant through Jesus Christ. Join us as we make a concise trip through Israel’s story in the Old Testament\, beginning with Genesis and ending with Daniel\, in an effort to understand what God is doing in the earthly ministry of Jesus\, in the early church\, and today. With questions\, contact the Rev. Leah Wise.

SUMMARY:Interfaith Ramadan Iftar Dinner
DESCRIPTION:INTERFAITH RAMADAN IFTAR DINNER\nSunday\, March 23 | 6:45p | Windsor\, PLC\nJoin us for an interfaith gathering to learn more about Ramadan\, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. We will celebrate the sacred moment of fast-breaking\, followed by a delicious dinner provided by our Muslim guests. Admission is FREE. Please register to attend by Thursday\, March 20. \nThe Dialogue Institute Austin is dedicated to building community connections by hosting Iftar dinners throughout the Greater Austin area. These gatherings are held in partnership with local organizations\, utilizing their spaces to bring people together.\nOur dedicated volunteers prepare homemade meals\, creating a warm and welcoming environment where attendees share a communal dining experience. Each evening begins with a heartfelt welcome from a community speaker\, followed by a brief introduction to the significance of Ramadan. The highlight of the event is the sunset dinner\, fostering meaningful conversations and shared moments at every table. \nWhat is Ramadan?\nRamadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar\, observed as the holiest month for Muslims. As the lunar calendar is 11 days shorter than the solar calendar\, Ramadan begins earlier each year. In 2025\, Ramadan will start on March 1st and conclude on March 29th.\nMuslims fast from dawn until sunset during this sacred month\, abstaining from food\, drink\, and other physical needs to focus on self-reflection\, spiritual growth\, and acts of kindness. The fast is broken at sunset with a meal known as “Iftar\,” which brings family\, friends\, and communities together.\nWe invite your community to join us for one of these special dinners. You can choose a date within Ramadan that works best for you. \nLet’s celebrate the spirit of unity and understanding this Ramadan.\nVideos from previous Iftar dinners

Leah Wise.
