Mobile Loaves & Fishes

Mobile Loaves & Fishes

Mobile Loaves & Fishes is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998.

Both campuses of Good Shepherd support a monthly Mobile Loaves & Fishes truck run. Parishioners prepare a truck with food and supplies and then deliver those necessities to our brothers and sisters on the streets of Austin.

MOBILE LOAVES & FISHES
Monthly | Offsite

Mobile Loaves provides a tangible opportunity to serve our neighbors in need. To fill more than just stomachs, Mobile Loaves seeks to build relationships and offer transformative opportunities.

For the food truck portion of the ministry, one team makes sandwiches and loads the food truck. Another team drives the truck to different Austin locations where homeless people congregate or have temporary shelter and there distributes the food.

Children are welcome to participate with the first team with the presence of a parent or guardian. We ask that only children over 13 years of age participate on the second team, always with a parent or guardian, and that they display a certain level of maturity necessary to interact with the homeless.

On the third Wednesday of each month, we meet at the commissary on the grounds of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and work together as a team to serve the homeless.

The "make ready team" serves from 4:00 - 5:00p, and the truck team delivers from 5:00 until finished (usually by 7:30 or 8:00p).
