Jessica Riels

Director of Program and Communications

Jessica Riels serves as Director of Program and Communications at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she works with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to develop programs that strengthen community across both campuses. She also oversees the parish’s internal and external communications, helping to share Good Shepherd’s story with clarity, creativity, and purpose.

After graduating from the University of Texas and before entering full-time ministry, Jessica built a career in Washington, DC. Serving as Press Secretary and Scheduler for a member of the US House of Representatives, and as Personal Assistant to the US Chief of Protocol. After moving back to Texas with her family, Jessica co-founded an event planning company — designing and executing private and nonprofit events for clients across multiple industries. These combined experiences continue to shape her strategic and administrative leadership in parish life.

Jessica joined the Good Shepherd staff in 2020 after years of deep involvement in the church. A trained Godly Play instructor, Jessica first discerned her call to ministry through years of storytelling and wondering with children. Her work at Good Shepherd is guided by a desire to help parishioners connect more deeply with one another, with the rhythms of the Church year, and with God’s presence in daily life.

Jessica lives in South Austin with her husband, Greg, their two daughters, and their ranch dog, Scout.
