The Gilbert Street rectory repairs

April 30, 2025

To be a good steward of its properties, Good Shepherd is performing much-needed repairs and maintenance to the Gilbert Street rectory.

Good Shepherd acquired the rectory as a gift from generous parishioners in 2000. Since then, parish rectors have lived in the rectory with only minimal but necessary repairs and maintenance. Some interior cosmetic improvements to the kitchen and bathrooms were made in 2022. When our interim period began last year, the vestry assessed the structural condition and livability of the rectory. From that assessment, the vestry approved certain repairs, maintenance and improvements that are necessary to maintain the structure and livability of the home. The rectory is more than 70 years old, and much of this work will address original systems in the house – plumbing, electrical, siding, and windows, for example.

We’re fortunate to have such a wonderful home, and we’ll be glad for the Rev. Stanford Adams to move into the rectory! We expect that he will move into the rectory later this year when the repairs are complete.
