The Rev. Jonathan McManus-Dail serves as Priest for Children, Youth, and Families at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where he provides pastoral leadership and helps shape the faith formation of young people and their households. Jonathan is passionate about nurturing a church community in which children and youth encounter God’s love, explore their questions, and grow within a supportive and affirming spiritual home.
Raised in eastern North Carolina, Jonathan grew up in the Original Free Will Baptist Church, where his family was deeply involved in parish life. He sensed a call to ministry early in life, shaped by both the love he experienced in his church community and the deep need he witnessed in the world. His desire to love more inclusively, ask deeper questions, and be rooted in ancient patterns of prayer eventually led him to the Episcopal Church, where he found a spiritual home and a renewed sense of call.
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke Divinity School. He later earned a Certificate in Anglican Studies from the Seminary of the Southwest, which first brought him and his spouse, the Rev. Lizzie McManus-Dail, to Austin and the Diocese of Texas. He began his ministry serving as a Chaplain at the Durham VA Medical Center and then spent five years at St. Julian of Norwich Episcopal Church in Round Rock, first as Curate and then as Associate Vicar. It was in that community that Jonathan discovered a deep love for ministry with young people and their families.
Jonathan and Lizzie now live in Austin and enjoy serving within the Diocese of Texas. Lizzie is the Vicar of Jubilee Episcopal Church in North Austin. They are the proud parents of a two daughters. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and sharing good food, singing, and traveling.
