The Rev. Leah Wise

Priest for the Hill

I grew up in various Evangelical denominations in Indiana and Florida before finding a home in the Episcopal Church in my early 20s. After receiving a B.A. in Religious Studies from Florida State University, my husband, Daniel, and I moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where I worked in the service industry before settling into a dual career as a sustainable fashion writer and General Manager of an Episcopal charity shop. After discerning a call to ministry, I received my M.Div. from Yale Divinity School and ventured to Texas for the curacy program. I served at Grace Episcopal Church in Houston before coming to Good Shepherd. I am passionate about connecting faith to community care. I also love to study the Bible, particularly the Old Testament.
I am a lifelong singer who joined my first choir at the age of 7 and nearly majored in Vocal Performance. It remains a vital part of my life. I don’t feel like myself if I’m not singing. In my free time, I love to check out local restaurants with Daniel, take meandering walks, and go thrift shopping.
