The Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Soltys joins the Good Shepherd clergy team to provide spiritual leadership, with a particular focus on Adult Formation. A curious adventurer, Jacqueline loves creating conversations and opportunities that invite people to connect theology with their lived experience. She comes to Good Shepherd eager to draw alongside newcomers and longtime parishioners alike and to explore together the challenges and joys of a faithful life.
Born in Boston and named for Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, Jacqueline was raised in the Roman Catholic Church. After marrying a cradle Episcopalian from Louisville, Kentucky, she found her spiritual home in the Episcopal Church. She was ordained to the priesthood in 2016 at St. James Cathedral in Chicago. Jacqueline brings to her ministry both a PhD from Yale and experience as a stay-at-home mother. Before ordination, she taught at several universities, served as a translator during the Reagan-Gorbachev summit, and coached students applying for the Rhodes, Marshall, and Truman Scholarships. As a priest, she has served at St. James Episcopal Cathedral, historic Grace Church in Yorktown, Virginia, and as rector of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Virginia.
Jacqueline and her husband, Stuart Henderson, enjoy regular doses of live jazz and great food. When they are not exploring the many joys of Austin, they love spending time with their two adult daughters, who live in Arlington, Virginia, and New York City.
