Weddings

We are so pleased to support couples taking the sacred steps toward life-long union, beginning with the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

Through this sacrament, couples make their vows before God and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows to each other. Our role is to invite this blessing upon your lifelong relationship and to commit ourselves to helping you flourish in your life together.

All weddings at Good Shepherd follow the service for the Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage found in The Book of Common Prayer.

Requirements for The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage at Good Shepherd

One in the couple must be a current, active member of Good Shepherd for at least six months prior to submitting a request;
— OR
One in the couple must be the near relation (child or grandchild) of current, active members of Good Shepherd;
— AND
The couple must participate in one of two, Saturday-morning wedding seminars held each year. Following participation in the seminar, the couple must complete pre-marital counseling with a priest on staff.

We invite couples who meet these standards and seek remarriage in the Church to visit with one of our clergy for guidance regarding petitioning the Bishop of Texas for that permission.
