One Body, Many Members
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd is one congregation with two altars, ministering from two locations in Austin, Texas. Bound by a common vision and mission, each of these campuses shares God’s love with a unique and intentional identity.
Our founding campus, located at the corner of Windsor and Exposition in Austin’s historic Tarrytown neighborhood, has offered a spiritual home for friends and neighbors since 1951. The Windsor Campus hosts not only our hopeful community of worship, education, and service, but Good Shepherd Episcopal School, our outstanding early-childhood program “building in each child the foundation for good character, and a lifelong love of learning.” On any given Sunday at the Windsor Campus, one will find a large congregation of the whole city, strengthened by meaningful tradition, genuine welcome, and peers of every generation and situation.
Our second campus, Good Shepherd on the Hill, rises just east of IH35 South on Woodland Avenue, and is immediately identifiable by its beautiful, well-loved grounds. Looking northwest from its crest, the Austin skyline impressively stretches, as, a little to the left, the Westlake hills roll into the distance. Launched in 2016, our second campus realizes Good Shepherd’s commitment to serve and connect with new neighbors. The Hill nurtures community throughout the week with events designed to build meaningful connections among people. On any given Sunday at the Woodland Campus, one will find a more intimate congregation, strengthened by its cross-town history, and, yet, open with the creative energy of a new adventure.
With these distinct identities and opportunities, each campus empowers us to Love More, Better, authentically and as one, diverse family of faith.
