Paul and Barnabas had founded the Galatian churches on the first missionary journey (acts 13 + 14) by their preaching and teaching. After their departure, other teachers arrived and began to undermine Paul’s teaching. To address this “trouble” (1:7) and the confusion these teachers caused, Paul wrote a six-chaptered epistle. His three main questions were concerned with apostolic authority (how do we know what to believe?), the gift of salvation (how do we understand “justification by grace through faith”?), and the life of holiness (how do we live a life of righteousness and love?). The answers Paul gives to the Galatian believers hold true for us today. For more information, please contact the Rev. Mike Wyckoff.
