The Psalms: A Mirror of the Soul

March 23 @ 9:15 am - 10:10 am

From the very beginning, Israel was a covenant community whose primary bond was worship of God. The Book of Psalms has such a key role its worship life (as it does for us today), revealing the faith of the community. As Christians, we read the psalms with New Testaments eyes, and discover similar situations as the Hebrew people before us – sorrow, loneliness, joy, hope and much more. John Calvin said, the psalms provide “a mirror of the soul.” After an initial teaching of the “anatomy” of a psalm, we will look at four genres or types of psalms appropriate for Lent – lament, help, remembrance and instruction.
Meets every Sunday from 9:15a–10:10a in the Windsor, Media room. Contact Mike Wyckoff for more information.
