It’s official: Texas Rising Star recognized Hillside Early Childhood Center as a four star provider!
This spring, Hillside staff prepared for one of the biggest assessments in the school’s history. In late June, Hillside received the highest rating, four stars, from Texas Rising Star.
The Texas Rising Star program is a quality rating and improvement system for child care programs participating in the Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Child Care Services program. In the state of Texas, only 27% of providers receive a four star rating. This rating means an increase in our reimbursement rates, more funding for materials, and free training opportunities for our staff.
This is such an important milestone and helps HECC fulfill its missing of delivering to children ages six weeks to four years an excellent, full-day, year-round developmental program that fosters healthy bodies, joyful hearts, curious minds, and engaged families, in an inclusive and innovative Episcopal community. Through generous donations, outreach, and the workforce childcare subsidy program, HECC strives to serve the Southeast Austin Community providing access to quality early childhood education to children in families of all socioeconomic means.
Hillside is currently preparing to open its seventh classroom in August and will be welcoming new children and families to the Hillside family. This classroom is targeted to open in mid-August and estimated enrollment will be approximately 72 children. When looking at this total enrollment, 17% of our children are receiving some type of reduced tuition, broken down further to reflect 4% receiving an in-house scholarship, and 13% receiving the Workforce Childcare Subsidy funds.
