Ryan Boettcher serves as the priest for pastoral care and outreach at Good Shepherd, having accepted the call to serve in November of 2025. Ryan is looking forward to exercising his gifts to serve and care for the people of Good Shepherd and the community beyond here in Austin.
Ryan grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While raised in the Lutheran tradition, Ryan found himself in the evangelical world for a long season of his young life, including time spent in seminary at Regent College in Vancouver, BC from 2005 to 2008.
After a brief season as a youth pastor at Eastbrook Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ryan felt called into the Anglican tradition and helped plant two churches–one in Milwaukee, and then at Resurrection South Austin, now a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Ryan’s holy orders were accepted into the diocese in February of 2025. Though Ryan has pastored in many different contexts and traditions, he feels at home now in the Episcopal Church, and looks forward to learning the traditions and culture of Good Shepherd.
Ryan was previously the Associate Rector at “Rez” in South Austin, where he assisted in many areas of parish life, providing oversight with the liturgy, formation, and pastoral and community care.
Ryan is married to Bliss and they have four children: Thaddeus, Luca, Alec, and Annelise. Having only moved to Austin in 2019, Ryan is learning to embrace all things Texan, though he still is a Packers and Brewers fan. He is an aspiring gardener (emphasis on aspiring) and is working towards cultivating a native garden at home in his spare time.
